Let’s consider how we can use every bit of the resources and knowledge that I have available to look my best. It does takes a certain amount of thought because looking your best is a very individual matter. What works for you may not work for me. Clothes cover 90% of our bodies; they “package” us and send out a powerful signal by which people will judge you. If you want to be successful, package yourself so that your appearance sends a message that is helpful to you. Without words, you can say what you want to say to those who are important to you.

We all want to look more beautiful, but I must confess the word makes me a bit nervous. Beauty is a very subjective term. Who is doing the judging and what guidelines are being used? Shall we try and impress everybody, or just the people we want to impress? What is your goal? We need to take a step back and honestly evaluate our own physical attributes. We must consider the message we are sending out to the world. Once we have objectively examined our own unique physical attributes in the light of our own unique goals, only then can we turn them to our advantage. Typically, we start by minimizing or camouflaging our less attractive areas. The ultimate goal is to present the true and honest expression of our own unique message. Each of us wants to learn how to make the most of our natural attributes. It’s all in the packaging!
I have never met a woman who liked everything about her appearance. Even Sophia Loren was never totally happy with her looks. Many years ago when she was interviewed she said, “I find my shoulders too broad, my hips too narrow, and my eyes something less than remarkable.” (We should all have such problems!)
Next week we will take a critical look at our own bodies and pick which body category we fall into and what colors flatter that body type best …
