About the first of March I flew up to Portland, Oregon from San Diego to search for new fabrics. Oregon is famous for its woolens – particularly Pendleton, where I found a beautiful man’s plaid . I bought several more men’s woolens at the Mill End Store and all of these will be shown in my Mens Casual Vests section. I discovered a great place to find unique designer cottons called Cool Cottons where I purchased many which you will see in my Womens Vests under Cottons. Anyway, I lost all control and bought tons of cottons and woolens which I didn’t dare try to bring back on the plane so had all of them shipped home to San Diego.
During the next week the UPS delivery man was lugging these huge rolls to my front porch with a puzzled look on his face. “What are you doing with all this stuff?” Little did he know.
I then sent swatches to my resource in Kansas City, Kaplans, where my friend Carol Jo carefully selects just the right linings and backing materials to match my fabrics. More rolls of fabric were deposited on my doorstep!
I was off and running, making up one vest of each fabric to dress the mannequin so my photographer Sergio could carefully photograph each one. I then wrote a description to go with each vest and from there my webmaster inserted them all on my site. Now you can click on vestsbycharlotte.com and there they are!
